YUKON GOLD RUSH AKA KLONDIKE GOLD RUSH
Gold was found in Yukon in 1896 and it led to a stampede to the Klondike region between 1897 and 1899. It led to the creation of Dawson City in 1896 and the Yukon Territory in 1898. The Klondike gold rush strengthened the public’s image of the North as more than a wasteland and left a body of literature that has popularized the Yukon.
