Changing British Attitudes was a factor in confederation. Britain didn't want to have to keep paying to help the colonies. Britain helped them with military support. The colonies asked Britain for money to help pay for railways and forts. The colonies had also decided to charge Britain taxes to bring their goods into the colonies. Britain thought that the colonies should start taking care of themselves.
